About

Frances TwiddyI graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2009 with a degree in Contemporary Lens Media. Throughout the course I experimented with the different aspects of film making with projects such as "Jitter" where we had to create five, five second pieces that conveyed a message or story. I found this to be an enjoyable challenge that highlighted the importance of editing. I created a piece called "Scab" for which I wrote my own script and had experience with directing actors. By this point I had a strong passion for editing, which continued into my final year where I explored a variety of genres. My strongest piece was "Antony Gornley - Another Place" - a wordless documentary about the 100 cast iron figures on Crosby beach in Liverpool. "Glencoe - Fire, Ice and Blood" was another solid documentary where I felt I truly captured the beauty and vast history of the area. But overall, each of my final pieces reflected my creativity and enjoyment of editing.

In between projects I worked with two other students to create a fashion show video and a promotional video for prospective students. During my third year I began to seek work independently to gain experience. I had a response from artsNK, a Lincolnshire based company involved with various arts projects. For them I filmed and produced the documentary "neon 08" which followed a group from Sleaford designing neon lights and then seeing them made in a workshop. The piece received many positive reviews after showing in an exhibition.

In early 2010 I decided to move to London to seek more media opportunities. I concentrated on acquiring a runner job within post production in order to build up my skills. After a few months I was contacted by various post houses in Soho who have offered me work on several occasions. Currently, I work on a freelance basis for Unit Post Production and I have worked at Azimuth Post Production. Within these highly established companies I have managed to network and also gain worthwhile experience and knowledge from various editors, producers and directors. Having done this has further confirmed to me that I want to become an editor.
